To be ‘ALL IN’.
I’ve often heard the term ‘jump in with both feet’, in reference to how someone became involved in a particular activity. As a young teenager, my youth pastor would often talk about why we should be ‘Sold Out for Christ’. But what do these phrases have to do with us and eternity? In Revelation 3: 15-16, Jesus speaks out against the church’s wishywashy faith. He says, “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of my mouth”. Ouch. This is a punch to the gut. See, Jesus wants all of us. Not just the part of us we are willing to give Him on Sunday morning, and Wednesday night, while we live like the world for the remainder of the week. Jesus knows us. He knows what we think about, what makes us unique, and every intention in our heart. When we give our lives wholly to Him, we are essentially saying “No longer my will, but YOURS be done”. We give Him our hearts, hands, minds, and feet to be a living sacrifice to His service, how He sees fit. In serving Christ, we are called to be a living sacrifice holy and pleasing to God, which is our true worship (Romans 12:1).
